Plantin Revival

Here is my digital revival of 1930’s Frank Hinman Pierpont & Fritz Steltzer typeface Plantin. The bold and structured wedge serifs and low contrast make for an evocative serif typeface. While I did make some adjustments to the original typeface drawings, I still wanted to maintain and celebrate the core of the letterforms.
My alterations aimed to create a more uniform structure, based on the initial hand drawn illustrations, to be used digitally. Similarly, new punctuation elements were added to complete the set.
