Turiya & Ramakrishna

This is my conceptual interpretation of Alice Coltrane’s song ‘Turiya & Ramakrishna’.
I was inspired by the song’s overlapping melodies and fluctuation of sound. The eight minute song has so much depth and layered concepts that I struggled to pinpoint one element of the song to focus on. I used this inability to decipher the meaning and instead pushed the audience to build a connection with the design. The illegibility of the cover aims to evoke an emotional experience, as they are not required to waste time reading the content.
I created this serendipitously while playing with a scanner, where I moved printed letters over the scanning plate and experimented with an overlay of glad wrap light reflections.
